In this eagerly awaited mid table clash, with playing conditions overcast and a heavy pitch, Yatton elected to play up the slope. In the opening exchanges it was Chosen Hill who quickly utilised the conditions and from a scrum close to the Yatton try line, they opened their account with a converted try. Yatton quickly responded from deep in their own half, and it was the elusive Tom Moore whose perfectly judged crosskick upfield found the speedy Chris Edwards who crossed the line. The conversion was missed.
An intense mid field battle developed with both sides looking to gain the upper hand but It was Chosen Hill who persevered, forcing Yatton to concede a penalty for not releasing. This was duly converted and another try and conversion for Chosen Hill shortly followed. Yatton responded with a powerful scrum upfield creating the space for pacey scrum half, Nick Garnham to cross the line under the posts. The conversion was missed. Another converted try was scored by Chosen Hill making the half time score 24-10 to the home side.
With the slope now in their favour, the second half saw Yatton putting Chosen Hill under severe pressure and were awarded a penalty try for a deliberate knock on by the opposition. No conversion now required. Shortly afterwards, Nick Wakefield drove over the try line from close range, adding to the account, but once again the extras were not added. With the excellent Tom McMaster now sidelined through injury, it was Chosen Hill who finished the stronger side with another penalty and try.
Final Score CHOSEN HILL 32- YATTON 22
